    Bosso, You Beauty!

SEVEN years of pain, heartbreak and the burden of carrying the weight of souls battered by perennial failure came to an end on Saturday as Highlanders turned on a majestic performance at Barbourfields to win the 2013 Mbada Diamonds Cup final in style. The Bulawayo giants, without a major trophy since Methembe Ndlovu made them champions in 2006, ended a lengthy barren spell with an explosive performance, dripping in quality that was at times spiced with a touch of arrogance, which overwhelmed How Mine 3-0 and made a mockery of their giant-killing status in this tournament. Goals from Njabulo Ncube, […]

    Bosso revel in Mbada glory

BARBOURFIELDS Stadium on Saturday reverberated to song and dance that spilled into the city centre and trickled into the high density suburbs till the wee hours of yesterday morning after Bulawayo giants Highlanders massacred neighbours How Mine 3-0 to bag the $130 000 Mbada Diamonds Cup. It was a befitting victory for Highlanders, who had surrendered the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title to Dynamos a week ago on goal difference for the second successive season after last year’s league title challenge ended in the same fate. An impressive crowd of about 22 000 fans, taking advantage of the $1 […]

Two well-crafted goals in the first half from veteran forward Njabulo “Tshiki” Ncube and man of the match Peter “Rio” Moyo as well as Masimba Mambare’s exquisite strike early in the second stanza were enough to bank them a cool $130 000 winners’ cheque. Prophecy, juju dominate Mbada final

TALK of Christian beliefs and juju has taken centre stage ahead of the Mbada Diamonds Cup derby final pitting Bulawayo giants Highlanders and Premier Soccer League newcomers How Mine at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow. Responding to questions at a Press conference yesterday at a local hotel, Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu said he was not going to read much into a recent prediction by Bulawayo Prophet Blessing Chiza that Highlanders would win the $130 000 Mbada Diamonds Cup. After Highlanders were drubbed 0-4 by Harare City in a league match a few weeks ago, Prophet Chiza forecast that the Bulawayo giants […]

It’s three days to go to the final of the Mbada Diamonds Cup

It’s three days to go to the final of the Mbada Diamonds Cup, with Highlanders playing How Mine at Babourfields stadium on Saturday. How Mine have earned themselves a reputation as a team that is suspected of uses of Juju, and during their semi-final win over CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium there were candles mysteriously burning in the How Mine dressing room throughout the match, surrounded by plastic bottles containing various liquids and powders. Star FM’s Howard Musonza had a no-holds-barred interview with How Mine coach Philani Mabhena, who says his team doesn’t use juju. Source: Star FM
