    THE number of participants in the fourth edition of the Mbada Diamonds Cup will be less than that in past editions as sponsors have reviewed the figure downwards. The fourth edition of the Mbada Diamonds Cup will see a quartet of teams battling it out in two semi final matches.     Mbada Diamonds Cup launched

    The 2014 edition of the Mbada Diamonds Cup was launched yesterday with a reduced sponsorship package under a new format. The tournament now in its fourth year running, will see top the four teams, at the end of this year’s championship race take part with the winners set to pocket $50 000. Runners-up are guaranteed $30 000 while semi-finalists will take home $15 000 with the other 12 teams that fail to make the top four set receive $10 000 each.     Mbada rescues Marange villagers

    Mbada Diamonds yesterday donated 800 tonnes of maize to hunger-stricken families in Marange. More food aid will be handed over to villagers relocated to Arda Transau. Christopher Mushohwe, minister of State for Provincial Affairs, told a ceremony to handover the 400 tonnes of maize to the Chiadzwa community that other mining companies must emulate Mbada’s corporate social responsibility efforts. “Mbada is not the only one (company) here, companies which are not assisting, we will begin to query them because they are exploiting people’s fields who are no longer able to cultivate enough food for their families,” Mushohwe told over 300 […]
